Ciaran wins York Union Junior Championship

Congratulations to Sandburn Hall Junior Member Ciaran Matthews on winning the York Union Junior Championship at the Oaks Golf Club on Friday 12th August.  

Ciaran had rounds of 73 and 75 gross and is pictured receiving the trophy from York Union President, Neil Bellamy.

Captain's Day - and a Hole-in-One!!

Rich Matthews' Captain's Day was a very enjoyable day and saw some great scores in spite of the tricky winds.  James Hogg and Matthew Morton scored a fantastic nett 63 to take first place with Glynn Benson and John Dickinson finishing second with a nett 66.

Saffron wins YLCGA Victory Trophy

15th July 2016

Congratulations to 12 year old Junior Member Saffron Thompson who won the Victory Trophy in the Yorkshire Ladies County Golf Association's Challenge Bowl Competition at York Golf Club.  Saffron had a nett 66 and reduced her handicap from 24 to 21.  She is seen here receiving the trophy from County Captain, Dawn Clegg.  Well done from all the Golf Team!!

England Ladies Team win European Team Championship!

Sandburn Hall's Head Professional Steve Robinson led the Ladies Team to victory in Iceland

The England Ladies Team won the European Team Championships for the first time in 23 years clenching victory with a 4-3 win over Spain in the final.  Our Professional Steve Robinson coached the team and was delighted with the girls performance, commitment and professionalism at the tournament.

Sandburn Hall Club Championship 2016

4th July 2016

Congratulations to our Club Champions 2016.

Over 130 members played in our Club Championships at the weekend and enjoyed the fastest greens we have seen all season.

Rob Heath (pictured left) successfully defended the title he won last year.  Rob was 4 shorts behind clubmate Will Adamson with 3 holes to play but finished strongly to tie on 154 over the 36 holes.  Rob went on to win the 2-hole play-off and be crowned Club Champion for a second time.

David Hull (pictured right) won the Handicap Championship by 3 shots from Steve Kennedy.  David shot an excellent nett 69 in a difficult windy conditions on the first day and followed this with another 69 on day two.

Tracy Payne won the Ladies Championship for the first time.  Tracy's excellent score saw her reduce her handicap from 29 to 27.

Great win for Adam!

York Union Junior Team Championship

6th June 2016

Sandburn Hall Junior Academy Member Adam Copley won the best individual round in the York Union Junior Team Championship played at Sandburn on Friday 3rd June.  Adam scored 39 points and is pictured receiving his trophy from York Union President, Neil Bellamy.  

Adam's handicap is now 27 and we are sure it will come down more throughout the season!  

Sandburn Hall Invitation Day

Our first Invitation Day of the year was enjoyed by all those who took part.  

The winning team were members Phil Hulse (pictured) and Paul Broadbent along with their guests Malc Meneaud (pictured) and Mark Pym seen here receiving their prize from Golf Manager Rob Heath and Club Captain Rich Matthews.

Megan wins Yorkshire Championship!

A great Yorkshire Final between two of Sandburn's Golf Team

Sandburn Hall's Golf Team's Megan Garland and Emma Brown produced some fantastic golf in the final of the Yorkshire Ladies Championship which saw Megan lift the trophy.

York veteran honours friends with memorial trophy at Sandburn Hall

1st April 2016

A 98-YEAR-OLD Second World War firefighter has honoured his fallen comrades by donating a golf trophy in their memory.  

Members recently played for the trophy for the first time at Sandburn Hall Golf Club in Flaxton, with retired York Green Watch firefighter Mal Goodhall triumphing on 39 Stableford points.For the full York Press article click here

Round of a life time

for member Lee Copley

LEE COPLEY enjoyed the round of his life after taking just 70 shots to master Sandburn Hall Golf Club's October monthly medal.

Congratualtions to Lee who was playing off a nine handicap and produced a two-under-par gross round to storm to victory by six shots!

Guy Mowbray Charity Day

3rd September 2015

Sandburn Hall we delighted to host a golf charity day on 3rd September 2016 for Guy Mowbray, raising over £5000 for Marie Curie. 

FORMER England legend Chris Waddle helped Match of the Day commentator Guy Mowbray's Football Charity Golf Day at Sandburn Hall raise £5,220 for Marie Curie UK. 

The ex-Tottenham, Newcastle and Marseille winger was joined by the likes of fellow former pros Dean Windass, John Sheridan, David Hirst, John Hendrie and Michael Gray at the event, along with past York City favourites Andy McMillan, Wayne Hall and Paddy Atkinson.

Talented youngsters win North Skills Final

Sandburn Hall Golf Club, in Yorkshire, hosted 23 boys and girls for the England Golf North Regional Skills Final, supported by FootJoy.

The youngsters qualified for the event after competing in two National Skills Challenge events at their home clubs earlier in the year.

Rob joy at stunner of 66 blighted by medal miss

ROB HEATH shot a six-under-par 66 at Sandburn Hall Golf Club and still didn’t win the Flaxton course’s midweek medal.

Heath, golf manager at the track just off the A64, fired an outward 32 - with birdies at the third, fourth, fifth and ninth - and an inward 34. He picked up shots on the 14th, 16th and 17th.
The 23-year-old’s only bogey came at the 12th.
It was enough to claim division one honours but Heath missed out on the overall prize as 25-handicapper Paul Walker shot a nett 65 to edge him out by a stroke.  Heath’s stellar round, though, improved his handicap from 0.2 to -0.4

Northern lights lift for PGA Masters as Sandburn Hall

Some of the north's top golfers will descend on Flaxton later this monther for the PGA Yorkshire Masters at Sandburn Hall.

The ten-year-old venue, just off the A64, is staging the event, which has a field of more than 120 professionals, over three days from Monday, June 16.
